ROLE

Creative Direction

Graphic Design

The crew at Renew had a vision — as well as a few questionable WordArt mockups — for standing out from the average handyman.

When owner Raha moved to Australia several years ago as a refugee from Iran, he found his feet in Melbourne and built a successful business as a master painter, from the ground up.

He commissioned me to design a brand identity that would reflect the high level of craftsmanship and professional expertise clients have come to expect from Renew. I worked with him to refine the concept and the brand’s visual story.

I wanted to symbolise Raha’s journey and his new start with a dynamic ribbon flowing from the ‘R’ letterform, to show the exciting new path he’s created for himself and his business.

The identity is inspired by turning over a new leaf, and the warmth of the sun.

Crisp stock and signature colours gives business cards a clean edge.

Within days of launching the new brand and taking the van out on a job, Renew received three times their usual number of new business enquiries.

The premium feel of the mark has helped Renew stand out on the street, and the energetic colour and texture made it even more fun than watching their paint jobs dry.
